Information and news

Grammar & Writing Style
Our January speaker, Catherine Catanach from the Berks Arts Council, talked about the importance of artists using accurate style in their communications, press releases, etc. For those interested, she suggests a website at Utah State University that gives a guide to AP (Associated Press) style used in most print journalism. It also offers some quick "test yourself" questionnaires and answers. Go to www.usu.edu/journalism/faculty/sweeney/resources/ap.htm.

Holistic Health & Wellness Benefit
Here's your chance to feed your creativity by addressing your body and spiritual self. This seminar features twenty individuals from Berks Co. who are involved with holistic and spiritual well-being. It will take place at The GoggleWorks, room 238 from 12p.m. to 5p.m. There is an admission fee of $5 plus a non-perishable food item or pet care item. All proceeds will benefit The American Cancer Society, Berks County Humane Society and the Conrad Weiser Food Pantry.

Robert Burridge
Robert Burridge, who taught a workshop to many BAA members, has some new products and workshop information available including DVD's and a monthly online newsletter. You can check out these updates at www.robertburridge.com or email rburridge@RobertBurridge.com.

Jack Coggins Award Presentation
The "Jack Coggins Award" will be presented to Bruce Becker, the artist who did so much to raise money for the Amish following the schoolhouse tragedy, at the Stirling Mansion on Friday, February 23. The Institute of the Arts forgot to include the special price for artists, which is $50.00. For more information, call the Institute of the Arts.
